Jani Lindfors leads Cimcorp’s global system support operations with a clear focus: ensuring customers’ automation systems run reliably, wherever they are. Over the years, he has progressed from hands-on engineering to leading a global support function and developing the capabilities behind it.
As Head of System Support, Jani is responsible for a function spanning Finland, North America, and Europe. He leads three system support teams in Finland: automation, software, and management. Jani’s role focuses on building the organization and capabilities that ensure consistent, high-quality support globally.
“We don’t just fix problems. We make sure we have the right people, the right skills, and the right structure in place so that our customers can rely on us in any situation.”

From engineering to leadership
Originally from Pori, Finland, Jani was working in Rauma as an Automation Engineer when a former classmate encouraged him to join Cimcorp. He started in 2008 as a Project Engineer, working with robotics and PLC programming and spending extensive time at customer sites. At one point, he had over 200 travel days a year.
While he enjoyed the work, constant travel became unsustainable after starting a family of his own, and he moved on to a different role outside Cimcorp. A few years later, Cimcorp reached out again. Jani saw an opportunity to return in a role that would keep him close to customers, but without continuous travel. In 2016, he rejoined the company as a Support Engineer.
Working in system support brought new experiences and learning opportunities. No two days were the same, and situations often required quick decisions and close coordination across teams. Over time, his role evolved from technical expert to System Support Manager, with a growing focus on organizing expertise and supporting others.
“No one can be an expert in everything. In system support, I learned that building a coordinated and structured way to find solutions is key. That mindset is still essential in my current role. What matters is how well you bring the right people together when it counts,” Jani explains.
A turning point across continents
A major milestone in Jani’s career came in 2023, when he relocated with his family to Atlanta for a two-year assignment to develop and align system support operations in North America.
The work focused on standardizing ways of working, strengthening local capabilities, and improving knowledge sharing between regions. The impact was clear: more consistent support, stronger capabilities, and improved team stability in a demanding 24/7 environment.
“Being trusted with that responsibility was a big moment, both professionally and personally. Achieving strong team stability was especially important, as on-call work can be demanding,” Jani says.
Supporting customers through strong teamwork
Today, Jani leads a growing global support organization, managing over a hundred service agreements and expanding onsite support teams. His focus is on ensuring customers receive consistent, high-quality support wherever they operate.
He sees Cimcorp’s collaborative culture as a key strength. Teams support each
other, share knowledge openly, and build on strong experience from real customer environments.
“What I enjoy most in leadership is recognizing people’s strengths and bringing that expertise together in a way that works. It’s all about helping people succeed.”
Outside work, Jani’s time is largely shaped by family life, with his two teenage sons’ football hobbies setting the pace. In addition to supporting them, he plays disc golf with his sons, enjoys padel, and goes to the gym. He also values spending time outdoors with his wife and their Dalmatian.
