Nokian Tyres have placed an order with Cimcorp for two tire buffer storage and handling cells for their new factory in St Petersburg. The order also marks a breakthrough for Cimcorp in the Russian market.

Finnish industry’s interest in their neighbour’s markets is reflected in Cimcorp’s business. Many of the company’s customers have already established themselves in Russia or are planning to do so. The thriving St Petersburg economic area is considered a particularly interesting target.

It is safe to expand to neighbouring markets with technology that has been tried and tested at home.

“We have been involved in improving the competitiveness of the Finnish food and tire industries for about ten years now. Order picking systems based on the gantry robot technology developed by Cimcorp are in use at Nokian Tyres, Fazer, Hartwall and Valio. They have helped gain a clear competitive edge, in effectiveness, accuracy and flexibility,” says Tero Peltomäki, sales manager. “Based on these strengths, we for our part are ready to support the efforts of Finnish companies to become established in other markets.”
