Tire building - the green tire process

The green tire buffer must meet the demand of the curing presses from the output of the building machines. In conventional factories this process often occupies a large floor area, using a lot of equipment and manpower. Cimcorp’s fully automated, innovative solutions maintain FIFO control and allow you to maximize space for production.

Cimcorp offers three ways to approach this process. The method chosen will depend on the volume of green tires stored and the physical constraints of the building. In all cases tires are transported from the building machines to spraying by transfer robot.

The first solution achieves a high storage capacity and an ability to handle a wide range of SKUs simultaneously. Green tires are automatically loaded, individually, onto a universal tire pallet then picked up by the gantry robot. The dynamic storage system uses the space optimally - with different SKUs, full and empty pallets all occupying the same space on the floor under the robot. The robot’s multi-gripper can handle either single or multiple pallets.

The second solution utilizes the overhead space for the green tire buffer. The green tire is handled directly, without pallet, by the robot in a single level store. The solution is compact and uses the vertical height very effectively leaving the floor underneath the mezzanine free. This is a way to maximize tire building capacity in the space available – yet benefit from a fully automated green tire buffer.

The third solution is to use miniload cranes, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) for small loads. This is the best solution if the building offers generous clear height and you need to store very large numbers of green tires - perhaps thousands. It can be tailored for systems using individual tire pallets or systems using no pallets.

Cimcorp’s Warehouse Control System (WCS) manages the storage and the flow between tire building and curing. Tires are picked on demand from the curing process based on 100% FIFO. The WCS also provides complete tracking of individual tires through the entire process.
